The most recent YPN event at Lucky Strike was a fun and educational event! Not only were we reminded of how much fun bowling can be, we had the pleasure of listening and interacting with the Chamber’s new president, Mr. Rob Wonderling. He opened the interview by asking the audience to please address him as Rob, as opposed to Mr. Wonderling. He gets it.
Rob is someone who is proud of his journey to the top of his current pinnacle in his professional career and is genuinely interested in helping the young business community in Philadelphia succeed as well. He shared personal stories with us and explained that sometimes the best possible route to your own professional ascent is not a straight line. I think that is a good lesson for us to remember as we advance on our business paths that the journey itself will lead us to where we are supposed to be.
He also discussed many local issues such as; Philadelphia becoming a ‘green city’, YPN and our improvements for charitable and volunteer missions, new industries being welcomed to our region and several additional topics that our audience was eager to discuss. He did explain his goals for the next year and stressed the utmost importance of free enterprise and entrepreneurialism.
Overall, I think it was wonderful having Rob speak to our member body and connect with our membership. We look forward to having Rob back at future YPN events! Also, there is a call to action for our members to be heard, the new Chamber initiative called Relay. YPNers are urged to fill out the online survey that highlights four main areas: business climate, infrastructure, workforce and quality of life. Like I said, Rob gets us, and he wants to be sure our voices are heard, please do your part and participate in this online survey!
