Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced that Philadelphia’s 2010 population count was 1,526,006, a 0.557% increase over the 2000 Census of 1,517,550 and the first recorded increase to Philadelphia’s population since the 1950 Census. The City of Philadelphia “Philly Counts!” campaign was launched in November 2009 to raise awareness of and boost participation in the 2010 Census particularly among the city’s hardest to count residents.

The Chamber’s Young Professionals Network was proud to be part of the Philly Counts campaign.  While the 8,000 city-wide growth seems minor, this is the first gain Philadelphia has posted in 60 years – go Philly!
