Q: Tell us about your typical workday.
A: My typical workday consists of grabbing a cup of coffee once I arrive at work and going through my emails. My emails normally dictate what I need to get done for the day. The typical tasks that I have to complete each day consist of pulling loss runs for the Property and Casualty account managers, downloading transactions from a variety of insurance websites and scanning insurance policies into our online system.

A: It is important to connect with young professionals because it allows you the opportunity to continually build your network.

Q: How have you benefited from your YPN membership?
A: My YPN membership has allowed me the opportunity to network with individuals from a variety of industries who I would not normally interact with on a daily basis. When I first joined YPN back in 2006, my membership gave me the opportunity to land my first job after graduating from college.

Q: You’re a member of YPN’s Social Media and Marketing Committee. Why is it important to get involved once joining YPN?
A: It is important to get involved in a committee once joining YPN because it allows members the opportunity to enhance their networking opportunities with other members and learn more of the opportunities YPN offers to members.

Q: It is difficult to get onto the career ladder at the moment given the current economic climate. What three pieces of advice would you give college seniors and young graduates who are beginning their job search?
A: 1. Try to get in front of as many people as possible in your career field and always ask questions
2. After interviewing with a company, send the person who you interviewed with a handwritten thank you note. This will help differentiate you from the other candidates who are applying for the job.
3. Always make it a habit to follow-up after an interview or after sending someone your resume.

Q: What one Philadelphia attraction must you take friends and family who are visiting to see?
A: I would take my friends and family to see the Independence Historical National Park. The Independence Historical National Park is the home to the Liberty Bell, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Independence Hall. It is also an attraction that will provide others with the opportunity to learn about the history behind the city of Philadelphia.

Q: What would surprise people most about you?
A: The one thing that surprises people the most about me is that I have the ability to maintain my composure and stay cool in extreme and unknown situations.
