When Scott Mirkin, President and Executive Producer of ESM Productions, launched the Young Professionals Network with the Chamber 20 years ago, he had no idea what the program would evolve into, but he knew it was something our region sorely needed.
“One of the first things I recommended was to get involved with the Young Professionals Network,” said Scott about Christina Wong, Vice President of ESM Productions, when she first began interning with the company 10 years ago. He urged her to get involved with the business community to grow her career both professionally and personally, and credits the Young Professionals Network for much of this city’s growth and expansion.
Recently, Scott opened YPN’s annual signature event, Success in the City, which convened alumni and new members to celebrate the network’s 20th anniversary. This year’s speakers were not only influential business leaders, economic developers and distinguished decision makers, but fellow YPN alumni.
Panelists included Steven Grandizio, National Director of Affinity Partnerships, AnnieMac Home Mortgage; Sheila Hess, City Representative, City of Philadelphia; and Kathy Spencer, President, Spencer Consulting, Inc., who all shared how their involvement with YPN has helped shape their careers. The conversation was moderated by Doug Oliver, Senior Vice President, External Affairs, Philadelphia Gas Works.
