YPC Spotlight Awards

Last week Philly’s finest young professionals gathered at the Arts Ballroom to celebrate three amazing award winners in the first ever Spotlight Awards for the Young Professionals. The award recipients were selected by their remarkable leadership, exceptional volunteerism, their drive for career advancement, and outstanding relationship-building skills. The event kicked off with the President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, Rob Wonderling, calling YPC one of the best young professional organizations in the city of Philadelphia. Jaclyn McAdams, the outgoing chair for YPC, spoke about her experience on YPC as this was her final event as the YPC chair.

The three winners were, Siah McCabe, Project Lead, Practice Transformation at Mercy Health Systems, Basil Jackson, Marketing Assistant at IDP Education Ltd, and Naima Murphy, Director of Partnerships at Campus Philly. The room was filled with exceptional young leaders who heard from each recipient about the importance of YPC and all the opportunities YPC provided for them (shoutout to the Uber drive who drove Siah McCabe to her first YPC event and convinced her to go in!). YPC promised to deliver an event that recognized the region’s most influential young professionals, and they certainly did live up to that promise. The night was filled with inspiration and motivation for Philadelphia’s young professionals to pave the way for Greater Philadelphia’s future success and growth.

As one of Philadelphia’s young professionals and also a current board member of YPC, it is critical that we award and recognize the future leaders of Philadelphia for all that they do.  Additionally, as a Philadelphia native, I know how much the city has grown in the last few decades and the potential it still has. The only way that Philadelphia can grow and continue to be a great city, is by investing in the young professionals in Philadelphia. The Spotlight Awards were one way that YPC is striving to grow, recognize, and develop young professionals.
