Why did you join the Young Professionals Council?

I was introduced to the Young Professionals Council (YPC) at the perfect time. My career had taken me from Philadelphia to Toronto, and back. When I returned, re-establishing and expanding my network was a top priority. My new employer and longtime supporter of YPC, Villanova School of Business, connected me with the group and I felt instantly welcomed and supported.

What have you gained from YPC?

In the three years that I’ve been a member, YPC has been so much more than a place to swap business cards. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and interact with some of the region’s most influential business leaders, support initiatives aimed at improving our community, shape how YPC delivers value to our member base, and build lifelong friendships along the way.

Now, I’m thrilled to be serving as Chair of the YPC Advisory Board. I have the privilege of working alongside a very talented group of board members to inform, connect, and develop Philadelphia’s young professionals. I’m grateful for the support of the Villanova School of Business and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia in this endeavor. It’s an incredible personal growth opportunity and a chance to make meaningful impact.

What can YPC members look forward to this year?

The YPC Advisory Board and committees have been hard at work gathering member input to inform programming and deliver greater value through each of our touchpoints. Here are a few things we’re focused on this year:

  • Offering more access to Philly’s most influential leaders
  • Highlighting initiatives and organizations that are strengthening our community
  • Celebrating the impressive accomplishments of our region’s young leaders

How can new members get the most out of YPC?

YPC can deliver on a variety of needs – feeling plugged into the city, polishing up networking skills, giving back through volunteerism – so getting clear on what you’re hoping to gain will help shape your experience. Sharing your goals with long-serving YPC members also helps; they can help you navigate opportunities. Finally, look for chances to lend your expertise and connections with members you meet. The more you invest in YPC, the greater return you’ll see.
