YPC Networking at SPIN Philadelphia
Monday, January 27, 2020
On January 27, SPIN Philadelphia opened its doors to host the Young Professionals Council’s first networking get-together of 2020. Located in Center City at 15th & Walnut Streets, SPIN is a 12,000 square-foot subterranean social bar packed with 16 Olympic-grade ping pong tables, graffiti murals, a bathtub filled with ping pong balls, scratch-and-sniff wallpaper, a comfy-cozy red room, and bleachers for those looking for more of a passive adventure.
Originally co-founded by Susan Sarandon, the first SPIN opened in New York in 2009, with Philadelphia’s opening in 2017. Ping pong is the core business of SPIN with tables rent-able by the half hour or hour for $15 to $59. To eat, there are plenty of shareables, snacks, and sweets to go around while the full-service bar offers drink specials, “spin-offs,” and Philly-themed cocktails like “That Gin Jawn.”
Our sold-out networking night included ping pong tables, bar service, and delicious foods hot from the oven. SPIN was a perfect venue for a New Year gathering of friendly faces, old friends, and playful competition. Attendees basked in the Instagram-friendly backdrops, awed in the graffiti murals, and whiffed the night away in search of the odorous wallpapers.
If you didn’t get a chance to join us, SPIN opens Monday through Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

YPC Volunteers: Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Monday, January 20, 2020
This past Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Young Professionals Council partnered with the University of Pennsylvania’s African American student resource center for a day of volunteering. The morning started with a riveting call to action from Solomon Jones, an activist, author, and radio host. Throughout the day, attendees completed various activities on site, including making bags out of t-shirts to stuff with toiletries, painting a unity sign, and stuffing socks with women’s toiletries. The items will be donated to West Philadelphia area shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, and other charities.
