[Virtual] YPC Impact: Supporting Black and Brown & Local Young Business Owners

On Tuesday, December 15, the Young Professionals Council hosted a panel of local neighborhood business owners to share practices used to grow their business, key strategies for success, and COVID-19’s impact on their respective businesses. Members of the panel included Jeannine Cook, Owner of Harriett’s Bookshop; Jenea Robinson, Owner of Marsh + Mane; and Cecilia Torres, Owner and Creative Director of Casa Papel. Brianna Westbrooks, Government Affairs Manager for the Pennsylvania Apartment Association, moderated the discussion.

A few key takeaways from the event included the following:

  • Self-care, especially during challenging circumstances, is imperative.
  • Relationships are your currency.
  • Changes and pivots are part of life. Learn to live with them.
  • Conversations with peers are a powerful way of moving past roadblocks.

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and the Young Professionals Council thanks Jeannine, Jenea, and Cecilia for their time and expertise. We wish them continued success and encourage Philadelphians to support our local businesses!
