The Young Professionals Council empowers Greater Philadelphia young professionals across industries and sectors to become the leaders of tomorrow.
As our region’s young leaders continue to pave the way for Greater Philadelphia’s future success, vitality, and growth, investing in and empowering youth in our communities is vital to ensuring the success of the generation of leaders to follow.
That’s why we’re encouraging our members and young professionals across the region to get involved in WorkReady, an initiative managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network that provides career exposure to Philadelphia high school students through paid summer jobs.
Tiffany Jenkins, a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Philadelphia Works, recently shared with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia what she and her organization gained by participating in WorkReady:

“When interns are educated on the purpose, benefit, and influence of their work, they are motivated to collaborate and perform. Their outcome typically exceeds expectations producing a blueprint for the company to benefit. … Once they recognize that their values and work align in bridging a gap within the organization, their career journey begins and the company’s talent pipeline increases.”
Participating in WorkReady not only provides the chance for your organization to give back to the communities in which it does business, but can also provide you or a colleague on your team with the leadership opportunity to manage and supervise a young person.
Pay it forward to a Philadelphia young person this summer and sign on to engage youth in potential career paths, help build work ethic and transferable skills, and more.
