Throughout the pandemic, many of us have taken a step back to deeply consider what is important to us. For some of us, this sparked a career change, dedicating more time to new hobbies, or putting additional emphasis on cultivating and nurturing relationships. The pandemic and societal changes of the past year and a half prompted me to evaluate how I give back to my community, and it led to me being more intentional with my volunteerism.
As society slowly begins to adjust to its “new normal,” it may be time to either reengage in volunteering or find a cause that you are passionate about. Nonprofits throughout the Philadelphia area that work to improve the lives of our neighbors have faced significant challenges during the past two years, and they could use our help now more than ever. You can either translate the skills you use in your career to contribute to an organization’s mission, or you can hone and develop other talents as you give back.
If you are looking for ways to become more involved in the philanthropic and civic landscape of our region, mark your calendar for December 8; the Young Professionals Council will be hosting an event that will connect attendees with a variety of non-profits and charitable causes. YPC Connect for Community Impact is the perfect opportunity to find an organization with a mission that connects with you and piques your interest.
Young professionals are imperative to the economic and social fabric of our neighborhoods, and remaining civically engaged is a meaningful way to contribute to the vibrancy, recovery, and resilience of our communities.
